Poopdeck Ave.....aren't you glad this isn't your address?, originally uploaded by tommiea1.

hosted by the wonderful TN chick ....This week the theme is wild.

While I can't imagine living at Poopdeck and anything, this is a true blue living sign we saw in Homer, Alaska.

So I could have had any one of these shots:

I imagine - it will never be easy to let Texas go, but I do imagine you will make lots of new friends and make your new home just as wonderful.

From Texas - we miss you and you are always welcome back. For now - keep your eyes open and be aware of everyone that crosses your path - God puts people and things in our path every second of every day and then it is left up to us to make the most of it. I know you can do it - look ahead. Only look back to give you courage and encouragement.

I've missed you, Tommie. Thanks for coming by to see me - take care and I'll see you soon - Kellan

I know that it gets easier and easier, and old friends have a way of staying in touch.

Good luck on your new road.

Oh, you'll NEVER be ready to let go - it's so hard. And you're right, that is a major road trip.

Good luck on your road trip!

awwww, I know the feeling, Tommie. Hang in there!

Love the "Poopdeck" sign! ;-)

It's always difficult to move away and make new friends. However, you'll always keep your real, true friends in your thoughts.

I second Janet's comment - "Hang in there!"

Poopdeck? The worst street name I've ever come across is "Super Chicken Way." Although it might be kind of cool to live there....

Hope you start feeling more connected to your new hometown soon.

oh goodness--poopdeck is pretty awful! Then again, when I left Detroit I chose to move to Cumming, GA because I thought it was funny. (couldn't handle Cumming--moved to Atlanta within 3 months)

Its always hard to start over...but always kind of exciting, too :)

and you are right! It IS more painting!

I would not like to live on Poopdeck Avenue... I can imagine the chuckles that must bring!

I hope you feel more settled soon, it can be so hard to move on and meet new people, just give it time and I'm sure it will all come together. Nel x

I don't know where you find the strength to start over in a new place - and I find myself in awe of your ability to do so. We did it once, almost 12 years ago, and I can't imagine doing it again. Though part of me knows that we might just have to.

I'll be asking you for tips when the time comes, k?

Poopdeck Avenue? That is hilarious! I am sorry your feeling a little lonely and homesick. I bet you will make new friends soon... I sure admire the way you just dig in and start over, thats got to be hard.

It's always hard to start over, but in time, it WILL happen. If only you lived down the road!

Poopdeck? Niiiiice.

Very funny.

Thanks for the link in my comments to the fig jam recipe! i'm still waiting for the price in the market to come down a little bit before I go into production mode. Although last time I did that, the figs were then gone.

To all who mentioned it:

While the physical act of moving does get easier with each move. I actually have a list that I started from the first move back in 1998. With each move I go back and add what worked, what didn't, etc.

But the emotional part never gets easier. Even after six moves in eleven years I still haven't learned how to say goodbye to family and friends. I have made lifelong friends at EVERY single duty station, but starting over never gets easier!

But if you are need for a good packing list, I can hook you up!
