Weekend update

It was indeed a working weekend. Forget about Labor Day being a day of rest, there is work to do in casa Tuesday Update. First Husband applied Gila window tint to the windows in the front of the house. You can see on the left how it is already cutting down the glare. It cools the interior by at least 5-10 degrees. We first discovered this tint when we lived in OK. Will's room faced the west. It was so hot in there in the afternoon and evenings. We (as in Husband) applied this in TX as well. I can't likey a hot house. I am certainly not going to have b00b sweat in my own home!

I did the get the panels pinned and sewn together. I figured out I did the panels with lining, the sheers, the hardware cost less than half of ONE of my inspiration panels! I originally wanted use the little rings and just clip the panel to the rod. But once the rings were on there, the panels were lower than the sheers. I didn't like that at all. So I took them down, sewed a little pocket at the top, and threaded them onto the rod. Overall, I am very pleased with them.

I couldn't quit get the entire window but you get the idea.

The Kilz Casual color, Cornelian Red is only on this one wall. The other three walls are our neutral color. My goal over the next two days or so is to get the floor in here cleaned up. Since we ordered the rug and furniture for this room, it is basically empty. So it has become a holding area for all kind of things. Things are I am freecycling, a huge box of packing paper, tools needed for various projects.....etc.

Overall, a great weekend!

Your window treatments turned out wonderful - alas, I have no sewing capabilities.

(This is a result of having to make a one-inch pleated cotton skirt in an 8th grade sewing class. I had to take out the pleats three times. The third time I told the home economics teacher that it was the LAST time I would do it, and was promptly sent to the Dean of Girls - something that never happened since I was a "model" student."

Hate is a strong word, but I hate sewing now - even a button.

Love your choice of color - since your so good at this I might forward you photos of the wall areas and ask how you would accent them. I want color, but I don't want the space to appear smaller.

Going to the wine festival today - hope it doesn't get "rained out."

Love, love, love the curtains! You did a great job and the fabric is soooo cute! Also, that stuff the your husband is putting on the window....is it difficult....like sticks to itself while getting put up? We put some on our upper windows and it was a pain. We are looking for something that might be a little easier.

I love how the sky looks so much more beautiful after the window tint :-) Perfect example of how a polarizing filter would work!

Oooh...where do you buy the tint? I need that for half my house!

LOL @ boob sweat...I've had a lot of that going on lately. Gross!

I love the way they turned out. I don't like to sew, mostly for a similar reason to Desert Diva's story. Ugh!

The colors look fantastic together.

The curtains look great! I love that red, too. We were busy working on the house, too--sometimes its just nice to have 3 days to space out the work, instead of frantically trying to get everything done at once!

WOW!! Action Jackson and his tinting skills do inspire! We love the tinting - and will do the whole house this fall. I like that the lite and platinium have low-e for heat loss in the winter. Thanks for the recommendation - you rock!

And those curtains are to die for - yes, move over Martha!

it's so great to see ideas come together , isn't it????? every time we move apartments, i love the times i have shared with my husband in setting it up....it's much less of a work than setting up a house, but i can see you are loving every bit of it :)
