PhotoStory Friday: a peek into my Polly Pocket world

Hosted by Cecily and MamaGeek
First, I do have to say, these were taken by Livi. At just two weeks shy of four years old, I am so impressed with her look at her world.

This is a Polly Pocket.....a wee little thing about the size of your palm. Polly is waiting for her "bath" in the sink in the kids' bathroom. I can tell this is pre-bath because her teeny tiny little shiny pink shirt and green shorts is still on.

I had kind of hoped we would just skip over the Polly Pocket stage. But no....she got some for her birthday last year. At three, Livi's fingers just weren't able to put Polly's clothes on and take them off. Sooooo, off went the Polly Pockets and all her ten thousand parts to the "toys for later" bin. Don't laugh, you know I have one. Most likely it is even properly labeled with my handy dandy label maker.

During the move, Livi saw this bin and begged for the Polly Pockets. I thought she might finally be ready.

Well, she is.....she is finally able to put the clothes on, but she is also capable of leaving the ten thousand little pieces everywhere! I tried to have her keep them in her room, but it just hasn't happen. Even the little monkey and kitty have clothes.

BUT.....unlike the annoying little legos.....Polly's clothes are a very soft plastic. So when you step on them in the middle of the night, it is a mere squish rather than a wee little profanity crossing my lips!

Happy Friday, y'all! May your weekend be Polly Pocket free!

Wow, Livi really took those? Dare I say she has MASTERED the rule of thirds and has an eye for composition from her Mama!!

I hear of this Polly Pocket phenomena, and it sounds like a brilliant marketing machine, eh?

My girls are in love with Polly as well, especially my baby girl! She can not maneuver the clothes yet, but loves the shoes and boots! Those damn things are sooooo tiny!!!! We have so many mismatched pairs!

mamageek-She took probably about 150 pics...about 15 were good. Her odds are better than mine I swear!

Very much marketing genius at work there.....she wants one every time we run errands!

Oof, they used to be hard plastic and when you stepped on them...OUCH! I was so glad when they changed to soft plastic.

Your little one is a master at photography!

I totally know where you're coming from! Our house is overrun with Polly Pockets, Littlest Pet Shop, and Ponyville. I find bits and pieces in the WEIRDEST places around the house!!

Wow, you have a prodigy on your hands!
If only my weekends were Polly Pocket free...someday

ROFLMAO! I think those dolls just came out when I was leaving Japan and my friend's daughter wanted some SO much!

I know ALL about the perils of the Polly crap...but you're right. MUCH easier to stomach when you step on her stuff. I stepped on a duplo once and it drew blood!!!

I do remember all of the "stuff" everywhere!! We had pet shops, polly pockets, barbie shoes/accessories, ...and the list goes on. Hopefully this stage won't last long.
Also, how about the #1 rating for the Sooners this week! At least from your profile I assume "uprooted Sooner" means you are a fan. Let me know.

Oh yes, I remember it well! All the teeny, tiny pieces, the frustration of not being able to dress/undress dollies as/when the little person wants it to happen. Barbie is particularly tricky. All good fun though

Hmmm Mad isn't really into Polly Pockets she likes big baby dolls the best. She flits from toy to toy though like a little bee!
(except for a few perennial un-changing faves).

My nieces have these...hundreds of them. Of course, there are five girls with at least three of them interested in the darn things. You should have seen me at the Wally-World looking for ones they didn't have yet. Yeah, pretty much impossible.

Cute post.

I so feel your pain - on the legos.

Left you something on my blog.

Lol, I definitely live in a Polly-Pocket free world, but I have to say that Livi did a great job of showing how cute those little dollies are!!!!!!

My PSF is finally up!

Polly Pocket and her thousand little pieces are the bane of my existence and quite possibly the reason we have gone through three vacuums in 2 years- shh, don't tell hubby, at least now I've got my Dyson. ;)

Livi has a great eye- she comes by it naturally. :)

I have stepped on more than a few Lego pieces in my day.

LOL, I still step on my own toys late at night.

Great shots! Livi is one talented little photographer :)

I remember those days! Alet used to have polly pockets too! Noah read your blog and was quite taken aback when you mentioned "annoying little legos" .. he said "they are the best!" ... I still have 3 big rubbermaid containers full of the little, bitty ones!!! Want some?? lol!

I have a love/hate relationship with Polly. I hate sitting on the floor playing with something the size of my thumb. I love the stories told by Polly lovers. I love the ease at purchase and the quality of the product (ever the aunt). I hate the lost item of (fill in the blank)

I don't hate them as much as I hate American Girl doll. Is Livi there yet?

Our polly pockets clothes have gotten sticky (plastic seems to be breaking down) and now they rip when DD tries to put them on & off. *grumble* Right when she's figured out how to do it herself, I still have to do it anyway, lol.
