The stockings were hung.....

I finally got some decorations hung. The night before we went to my mom's for Thanksgiving, I had pulled the bins down from the attic....so they were just sitting in the entry waiting. I went through the house and put away all the fall stuff. Whew hoo....where do I start?
I figured I would start with something big that would make an impact....OOOPPPS, let me back up....We are not decorating the tree until Husband gets home. I set it up, but that is it....Yes, it is fake. I have massive allergies.....anyhow...back to the decorating.
I pulled out the bins labeled "French doors garland" ....Well, this was where it was used in our home in Kansas. But here I am going to use it around the fireplace mantle. A little peek into some 'Tommie madness'....I take a picture, print it out, and stick all the things that are in that area in the same Rubbermaid tub. So, a year later when I pull the bins out, I just try to figure out where that 'french doors garland' is going to go. In this bin was the greenery, ornaments, snowflakes, and silver ornaments.
In Kansas this was on both sides of the French doors, so they didn't have the stockings. I will probably print this picture out as well since we could use this around a mantle wherever we are next year at this time.
By the way, all these decorations are from Nell Hill's. If you are ever near Kansas City, it is an awesome store. I don't think a month went by that me and my neighbors didn't load up and drive over to the original one in Atchison, KS. Husband would see the familiar black shopping bags and wonder what was new in out home.
So, are you done with decorating???
happy Tuesday

Oh I like that curly toed one. I knit new stockings for us this year, and all but one are hanging. David has to sew up Ty's and then theyll be up. Id like to do a little more to the outside, but inside the house is decorated. I even put bulbs in a candy dish in the bathroom!

It looks beautiful, Tommie! I like the idea that you are waiting for your husband to come home to decorate the tree - good idea and so sweet. We're pretty much done, at least inside. Take care. Kellan

That's beautiful Tommie.

Here is my favorite line "We are not decorating the tree until Husband gets home".

WOO-Fricking-Hoo.

Please tell me that all that decorating is for Thanksgiving, not Xmas!

I dont EVEN have the 'October/November', pumpkins put away! I have to wait for hubs to get the stuff out of the attic. I fell through the attic one year getting the boxes! That is a whole other 'post' for me!
Maybe this weekend.
The garland is beautiful!
Havea great day!

I have a rule at my house: no Christmas decorations until December 1st. But I have to say, seeing yours makes me more and more excited for this weekend! Let the decking of the halls begin!

It looks fantastic! I love your photo idea. :)

I haven't even started decorating yet-- it will happen this weekend as there's just not time during the week.

I hope these 22 days fly by for you!

I am 80% done

First tree is up (but the cat keeps taking the decorations off) complete with wrapped presents and the downstairs is decorated. I have gotten the stairwells done.

I need to get the upstairs tree (this weekend) and the outside lights on (if it doesn't snow before then).

Oh the garland and the stockings look so festive!

We have an advent calendar up. And I have dusted off the little ceramic tree that I took from my grandparents' attic after they passed away. And that's as far as I've gotten. I had every intention of decorating last Sunday but required reading for school got in the way. *sigh*

21 days... I can't even believe it!

That is the *perfect* countdown badge. :)

I love that bit of Tommie Madness...it's brilliant! I have one teeny question for you, how do you get the garland and stockings to stay up? Your mantel looks more like a shelf, as mine is. I don't want to put holes in it, but tape doesn't work. Any hints for when we get decorating this weekend? (we don't put anything up until the 1st)

Susan-The garland is held up with those 3M Command hooks. They are the ones that have the removable adhesive when you pull a little strip that sticks out. I use the computer cord management ones on the thinner stuff, but the ones on the mantle are the ones with the white base and a metal hook. Then I can wrap the around it. If this isn't very clear, let me know. I can take a picture of it. I get these at Walmart.

I use these hooks everywhere. They are sturdy enough to hold up the kids robes and towels on the back of the bathroom door. They hold up jackets and backpacks on the back of their bedroom doors.

I use them in the pantry to hold up aprons.

I use them alot! So when they go on sale, I stock up. Since they are reusable, they make the move with us.

We put up my parent's tree in Tucson. Nothing here yet... maybe after this weekend.

Your fireplace is lovely.
