Manic Monday....

What family traditions or customs would you most like to see preserved?

For Thanksgiving, we try to celebrate it with whatever family we are close to. Being in the military we aren't always close to relatives, so we welcome any other scragglers into our home. When Husband was a new Lieutenant(before we were married), his younger sister came out to help him do Thanksgiving. His mom wrote out from start to finish how to do a Thanksgiving dinner. We still refer to those notes, even though they are tattered and soiled. We have tweaked things a bit here and there. The kids are old enough to help now as well.

What do you feel is the least sexy part of the body?

Not a big foot person.....

What keeps you awake at night? Why? (This could be worries, recurring thoughts, pain or any other distraction. Read into this any way you wish.)

Mainly worrying about all the things I need to do the next day. Or the fact that Husband is in a combat zone! Take your pick....

I love traditions... kinda of strange, since I am wanting to take all of us to a cabin in Broken Bow for Christmas... all 14 of us. But its the family and the traditions we take that are important! I hope.

We have done Thanksgiving so many different ways but I hope eventually we settle into a tradition with Maddie. Thanksgiving is all about family though, to me.

We used to have all of the single guys in my husband's company over for Thanksgiving dinner. Some years that meant that I had a huge crowd, but I didn't want anyone to miss out on a home-cooked meal or to be alone. We usually had quite a few for Christmas too!

Wow, it's amazing that you have the "Thanksgiving" notes from your mother-in-law. That's quite a tradition that you still refer to them.

I'm with you on the foot thing too. And worrying about a combat husband? Heck, I worry about you and your husband too. :) Love the tradition - your kids will SO appreciate that someday Tommie.

I'm working on incorporating more traditions into our family holidays. I think it's really comforting for the kids and passing on those traditions is a beautiful tribute to the past.

Not a foot person either. : )

I love that you have those notes from your mother-in-law ... that is cool. We are pretty traditional in that we get together as a family and have the turkey and all - nothing particularly special, but I was insistent, since my kids were born, that we would have the whole sit-down dinner - no going out to eat. Take care.

I love that Thanksgiving notebook...and the fact that you always refer to it. Get a color copy made now, before it gets too much more messed up so that your kids will be able to read it. (Not that getting spatters and such is really messed up, I think it adds to the charm)

How cool that you have hand written notes from your MIL. I second Susan's idea to have color copies made. Then you could add your own tweaks to Will and Livi's copies.
