Project Green and Happy Earth Day

Anna of Anna Carson Photography is doing another color challenge..... green. This was taken at the duck pond last week. Normally when I take pictures of the kids, it is very nonchalant. They pay no attention to me as I just get down and snap pics. We had been there about thirty minutes. Well, thirty minutes into a mongo lollipop like that, the last thing Will wanted to be doing was sitting around a park bench. He wanted to run, explore, jump off things, and all the things that make him a boy. This was the final shot, can you see the "Mom,-are-you-done-yet" look?
Speaking of green, in honor of Earth day, these are the few things we have done to go green in our home in 2008.
  • switched to my own bags for groceries.
  • reuse the produce bags multiple times or until they break ( I still want to make the ones made of tulle.
  • switched all bulbs to the CFL light bulbs
  • unplugging appliances when not in use
  • slightly raised the thermostat during the day ( I still can't do 78 degrees though!)
  • stopped buying bottled water....use a refillable one now.
  • buy organic produce when possible
  • do only full loads of laundry on cold
  • add one meatless meal per week
  • buying bulk packages rather than single serve items

Not a whole lot, but it is a start.....pretty soon I just might hug a tree.

Happy Tuesday and Earth Day, y'all

Those are really good ideas treehugger (I jest). We do most of those, and are always TRYING to green ourselves more.

And I adore that shot of Will (and the lollipop of course - that goes without saying, right)? :)

Love that picture! I can't get Jayke to hold still long enough to get very good pictures anymore.

I've switched to the reusable bags but that is about all. Good for you!

Those are all awesome ideas! I'm also trying to eat vegetables from my area, and in season. Right now it's asparagas and chard...yum!

Usually a comment jumps into my head as soon as I see a photo. I had to laugh when I started reading and you asked if we could see the look on his face- my comment had been, well, by what's on his face that sucker must be good, but he looks like he's had one too many pictures taken! :)
Really nice shot!

I do most of those, except the produce bags...I hadn't really even thought about those. Will do better from now on!

Great photo, too.

Awesome pic! Great ideas . . . I'm all about the no bottled water. I had no idea how many we were going through. What waste it turned out to be . . . and like you, going organic.

Going green and toxic free!!! (or trying, anyway)
