If you ask a Husband to get you a scanner....

If you ask a Husband to get you a scanner,

He will do lots of research.

If a Husband does lots of research,

he will try to print stuff off about it.

If he tries to print stuff off about it,

He will realize that you probably need a new printer, too.

If he realizes you need a new printer,

He will just get the mongo combo that is a printer, scanner, copier and fax.

If he gets the mongo combo that is a printer, scanner, copier and fax,

He will realize it is too big for the computer armoire.

If it is too big for the computer armoire,

He will move the desk into the office from Will's room.

If he moves the desk in from Will's room,

he will think there is room on the desk for the kids to have a computer on it.

If he thinks there is room on the desk,

He will move the old monitor onto the desk.

If he moves the old monitor onto the desk,

He will realize it is WAY too big.

If he realizes it is WAY too big,

He will run up to Best Buy for a flat screen monitor.

If he runs up to Best Buy for a flat screen monitor,

He will get this mongo one.

If he gets this mongo one,

he will now realize there is no computer in "our" armoire.

If he realizes there is no computer in "our" armoire, ***Note: see the hole in the back, that is how big that monitor was!!***

He will do more research....

And chances are, if he does any research,

He will order a new, bigger, faster computer.

I totally get your husband. Because mine has done the exact. same. thing. Lesson learned: if you want a bunch of things upgraded - get your husband on the task. :)

If you give a mouse a cookie... ;-)

This story is hilarious!

The mouse books are some of my faves...If you write a really funny blog entry, someone will read it late at night. If someone reads it late at night, it's likely they are enjoying some sort of beverage. If they are enjoying some sort of beverage, it's possible that they will snort that beverage through their nose while laughing at the blog entry. If they snort the beverage, it will go all over their computer monitor. OK, not quite the same, but I do love your blog!

You might want to use this logic in other endeavors:

If you ask a Husband to get you new car mats...

I was thinking along the same lines as Lisagh, maybe if you ask him to look into a quick weekend get-away for the two of you he'll end up booking a two week vacation in the tropics! ;)

(we have the rabbit too- I love it!)

thank god for husbands!!! without mine, we would have a 52" flat paneled hdtv! because, he went through that EXACT same process, 2 years ago...and came home with a mongo tv!!

Sounds about right. And in my case you can add - Husband will then complain bitterly to you about how you just don't understand everything that's involved with getting a new scanner.

This sounds freakishly like that annoying mouse who keeps demanding crap after you so kindly give him the cookie.

Damn ingrates.

Being a former elementary school teacher, I totally agree with Lisa's comment: "If You Give a Mouse a Cookie..." It's exactly like that!
