Peony surprise

When we moved to this house, it was late summer. The flower beds behind the house had already come and gone. So I cleaned them out, saved what I thought wasn't weeds, and hoped for the best. Then even in March or so, I cleaned out some more stuff. I seriously did some weeding and digging up stuff.

I wondered what would come up back there. To fill in some of the blank spaces, I ordered a complete foundation garden from Spring Hill Nursery. I mean, it comes with a diagram and all the plants! How easy can it get?

Much to my surprise one of the few things I thought might have been weeds were these peony bushes! The bushes are so full that the blooms make the branches droop. They are so gorgeous.

We've had this same experience -- the previous owners planted, much to our surprise this Spring, a yard full of daffodils, daisies, roses and tulips.

What a beautiful picture - I love peonies too, I remember finding some in our garden when we moved here a few years ago. Now I look forward to them every spring!

That's awesome!! We got our house in December, so it was pretty much the same. Unfortunately, we weren't so lucky. I think sweet peas were the only non weeds.

But, there is a gigantic magnolia ;)

I have memories of bringing peonies to school and the flowers were placed in the metal buckets used for washing the chalkboards. The school took the flowers to decorate the graves of servicemen.
