Thursday 13: the letter C

1. Catalog: I received my Hanna Anderssen catalog yesterday. I am loving the rayon Cafe dress. But I am on the fence about that ruffle on the sleeve. Will it annoy me?

2. Crazy face pics, even at the preschool "rodeo days".

3. Crazy: Speaking of crazy, (I am totally using crazy twice!) Yesterday was major crazy. I went from home, preschool, hair appt, cowgirl party, school, dr appt, tae kwon do, PTA...before finally heading home for the evening.

4. Cowgirl pics...What is better than one little cowgirl cheesing it up? Two cowgirls cheesing it up!

5. Camera: I really do need to pic up my camera more. Lately my camera mojo has just left me.

6. Computer: I somehow messed up my laptop while Husband was gone. He was home a few minutes and fixed it. I love it that he has computer skills! Otherwise the GeekSquad would be my new BFF.

7. Cry- I cry at the drop of a hat during that time. It drives me crazy. I cried during "Kendra" the other night!

8. Children: While I always saw myself as a 'three-kid' mom, I now know I was always meant to be a mom for Will and Livi.

9. Cut

10. and Color....I had my appointment yesterday to get my hair 'did'. I can't be letting my gray show through, I still have one in preschool!

11. Caves: We have a trip to see Mammoth Caves soon.

12. Can't: I can't wait, it should be fun.

13. Can: I can see the end of the tunnel with Livi's baby scrapbook. Yes, I said BABY scrapbook. Remember I so so behind on it.

Simply Kind Tuesday-PF Changs

Claudia at On A Limb with Claudia hosts a meme called Simply Kind Tuesdays. Her goal of Simply Kind Tuesdays is to increase awareness of the kindness that surrounds us.

This morning, my two sisters-in-law and my mother-in-law went over to Easton....also known as a great shopping mecca! I needed to get a car charger for my new phone (ps, listen to the sales girl when she tries to talk you into the car charger!) and look at the Tag watch to see if I was ready to make the plunge.
I ended up not getting the watch. Claudia, I know you have been my biggest cheerleader in this. But I was comparing two different ones. The TAG-Heuer and a Bulova. Both are stainless steel with diamonds with a deployment buckles clasp. I choose the Bulova. I am very happy with my choice!

Anyhow, it was very nice to go over and do some shopping with the girls with no kids! Even better and nicer, my mother in law treated us to lunch at PF Changs. Lettuce wraps and spicy Chang chicken....it doesn't get much nicer than that!

PS for a comparison look, here is the other watch:

More fall in the air

black patent in the fall, originally uploaded by tommiea1.

I often arrive a bit early to pick the kids up from preschool. So I have started throwing my unread magazines on the front seat just as they come. I get some uninterrupted quiet time to peruse my favorite magazines. Unlike now where more than once I have received the next month's issue and still haven't read the previous one. Today I happened to grab Southern Living.

So this month I was a little surprised to see my little black patent "Saba" MeToo ballet flats in their issue. Like they said, "Busy days call for shoes that slip right on and keep up with fast-moving feet. Look for an ultra-soft footbed, extra padding in the ball of the foot, and a flexible rubber sole."

These shoes are all that! They are so comfortable. I wore them today with just a pair of clean cut trouser pants with a simple shirt. It was barely 60 degrees here all day. I was so loving it......

especially since I was wearing my cute comfy scoots!

Happy Wednesday, y'all!

Fall is in the air

new scoots, originally uploaded by tommiea1.

These mustard yellow ballet flats were calling to me. I was looking for a jacket for Will.....but there they were.

shoes: Tommie....tommie, come here little chickie.

Me: Who is that?

shoes: Don't you think I will look oh so cute peeking out of a pair of jeans?

Me: uuhhmm, yeah, kinda. I have been looking for a yellow bag. May as well get the shoes first.

Shoes: I'll hook you up. So, am I coming home with you.

Me: Of course, let's go find a bag.

Still haven't found one. Okay, I did find one,

but I am not sure I absolutely love it enough to welcome it into the fold!

So have you started fall shopping....?

Taken by a four year old

Note to self: Do NOT volunteer at the kids' preschool the week after Daylight Savings time! We had to leave the house at 7:40 AM. It was not pretty.

But it did make for a very productive day. I had an appointment to get my toes done. We have had several days of 80+ degree weather. Flip flops are a staple from now on until well all summer.

I had time to get some new scoots. Whew hoo! aren't these the cutest things ever? They are Keds! Totally brought back memories of those canvas ones I wore as a child.

Finally, this afternoon Will picked up the little Sony Powershot (while I was outside taking pics of my feet)! I was quite shocked at what great shots he took. Seeing his world through a lens is amazing. These are straight out of the camera shots he took.

Peek a boo, I see you!

Happy Tuesday!

Gobble gobble

Gobble gobble, originally uploaded by tommiea1.

I saw a quote in the paper this morning that summed up Veteran's Day for me: "Thank a service member for giving up the comfort of friends and family to fight for freedom. Thank those veterans who came before us." -Brigadier General Christopher Tucker.

Before Husband left thirteen months and three days ago, I never thought of all that these soldiers give up for a year to fifteen months. Even the comfort of sleeping in a bed without springs poking up in your back. As hard as this year has been, I know Husband is doing what he joined the military for...he has always wanted to be a soldier and is great at his job! So, thanks Husband....but hurry home now!!

On a much lighter note, this little turkey came home with me yesterday. I got it from the same vender as the rooster I got a while back. There is a craft bazaar here that kind of kicks off the holiday season.

I was able to find the ornaments that we exchange with Mike's sisters as well. Whew hoo!! Another thing I can check off my list.

Happy Sunday!

There is a rooster in the house....and notecards too.

There is a rooster in the house...Isn't he the cutest thing you have ever seen?? My friend J asked me if I wanted to go to this sale out in the pawpaw patch of a bunch of rusty old stuff. J has this rooster in the next size....38 or 39 inches to be exact.....of course this spot will only accommodate a 36" inch piece. So unless my little rooster was going to lose his legs, I had to get this baby one. He is made of metal and has rebar legs. I saw this at an arts and crafts festival in the fall. I hesitated and decided not to buy it. (mainly because I wasn't sure the medium sized one would fit there). Every since no other rooster has compared. I always kept telling myself I should have gotten this one. So when she asked if I wanted to go, I jumped at it.
I also got this little plant thing. My snap dragon that is just to the right of it is just about crushed from all the rain we have had, so I think I will get some ivy that will climb this stand.
Friend J got this adorable little red pig and a cross with a Texas star on it.

**Thanks to nice friend R who I call for random directions to get around this area!!** It did save us some time.
When we got home from our little adventure I was quite surprised to get these little things in my mailbox.

A few weeks ago Sisters with Style held a celebration in honor of their 100th post. They had a random giveaway to anyone who left a comment. Well, my old Alaska Bunco winning spirit** must have been with me because today when I got home from getting the rooster this was in the mail. I am not sure if it is because I am "being a woman" and am overly emotional or what, but the little monogrammed note cards* really brought tears to my eyes. I started reading their blog from a link on lost in surburbia a while back. So, many thanks, Sisters for your little act of thoughtfulness. These note cards will write letters of love to the man who rocks my world even though he is halfway across the planet!
*I blurred the monogram because I am paranoid like that!!
**When I lived in Alaska, I was in a Bunco group with 24 people. Yep, it was that big because no one had anything to do up there!!. I won some prize every single time I played the entire two years I was there.

Wild Card Wednesday: Miss Mindy's shopping day

From The Kept Woman who knows how to treat a dishwasher....

Today my friend Jill and I did a "What Not to Wear" with another friend Mindy....she had recently gotten some birthday money and wanted some fun clothes that she could still be a mommy in but not in sweats all the time. We had so much fun! She ended up getting a ton of stuff, from shirts, dressier shorts, shoes, accessories, even a bag that wasn't a fanny pack! We had a great time. I really had to restrain and not buy anything, but I did cave for one little purchase.....

Isn't this the cutest little thing you have ever seen?? I got it for a steal so it doesn't really count. I didn't get to eat lunch with the girls since I had to pick Will up from preschool....

The other reason I had to restrain from shopping was I had to replace my camera. Sadly I left it outside Sunday. Will had asked to take pics with it. It was sitting on the steps of the play structure. When I was running around the house looking for it on Monday to take pics of the lemon poppy seed muffins.....I couldn't find it. With a pit in my stomach I glanced outside. It was sitting there....and it had rained for almost the previous 24 hours.

ETA: My dream camera is a Canon Digital Rebel XTi......this little baby....

I was going to get one in July anyway....Mike had ordered me one when he was home on R&R....but they were backordered. So I was just going to wait....but now the time has come to take the plunge and get my dream camera. I can't wait to get it!!

btw, my early Mother's day present got here....but no camera to take its pretty little picture in its pretty little blue box.

Plenty of M's to choose from with Mindy, muffin Monday, Mike, Mother's day....

happy Wednesday!

What deal did I find yesterday??

Since The Kept Woman is all about saving a buck these days....

I just had to share my lovely little find today. I was running errands, and like TKW says...it sounds better than shopping....Big Girl Agabell was here today with the kids, so I went to do my favorite thing to do with no kids. A pedicure....most times this would be the most relaxing time of my week. Today I was ready to roll some heads....apparently mommy-who-brought-two-kids-to-the shop did NOT get the memo to leave her kids at home. For an entire hour I listened to her hollar at her kids..."Lisa, get over here (Lisa appeared to be about 18 months old) "Isabella...you know better" who appeared to be 2 or so! Ugh...

So in order to relax I went to BestBuy to check out a new phone. A little retail therapy...But I forgot to ask Mike if I should keep my old number or get a TX one?? It would be a pain to let everyone know my new number, but he could call it like a local call when he calls home....uuhmm?? a dilemma

So I went next door to Ross....well, normally I have to really be in a mood to do combat shopping...and that is what Ross, TJ Maxx, and Marshalls is like. Every once in a while you can get a great deal....I stumbled around the store, found a few great things but then decided to venture over to the bags.

There was a girl marking them down....that is always a good sign. I spotted this little thing....I felt it....oohh, it is so soft. You can smell the leather just standing by it. then I opened it..

and was sold!! Isn't it adorable?? It has this cute little paisley lining. Yes, it looks like I should be driving a Harley instead of a wagon...but I really liked it. And the best part, she was marking them down even more, so it was 60% off......Whew hoo!! Then I came home and promptly organized like a little school girl packing up her backpack for the first day of school.

Now, of to my closet to find something to wear that matches my new little bag!

happy wednesday...

Did you play?? Okay, no "W's really, but it was a great deal!
